A Fall Day with Granny

A Fall Day with Granny
by Raven Slade

Awoken by the warm sunlight,
I sprung to the kitchen to find
a pleasant aroma that had been just right.

Grandma danced swiftly as
the bacon sizzled and popped,
wanting only for the background
ruckus to stop.

She asked if I could be a
darling and cut the raw potatoes,
since she had already done
the tomatoes.

Nothing was better at that moment,
cooking with mama and hearing
“It’s a Wonderful World”

Upon the simple task
she smiled with delight,
wondering how’s our day
is going to turn out.

We are family
Together
Together, forever
