Biography:
My name is Jamia Burnett. I am in the eighth grade. I am a writer. I love writing, it brings me joy. I am from Chicago, but I currently live in Indiana. I like to claim/cling to Chicago because it’s where my inspiration comes from. I first started writing when I was in the fourth grade. I was a part of an enrichment program at my school. In that program I got to get my own hard covered book and write my own story. That sparked my interest a lot. Writing and reading has been a getaway for me. It brings me peace and joy. Writing just encourages me to keep moving forward. By moving forward and being successful I can change statistics!
Life
by Jamia Burnett
Life isn’t the good times
They aren’t the bad ones either
Life is overcoming obstacles
BEING BRAVE
Having hope when everything around you
Is CRUMBLING
It’s crumbling but you still find success
Success and love and hate
And anger and music
And peace
Peace
A sweet serenity
These things are all life
Be you
Be true
Beat statistics
Life
Destiny
by Jamia Burnett
A girl
Staring out beyond the stars
She swore she could see her destiny
But that destiny was impossible
Society deposited these myths into her mind
You won’t make it far, they said
You’re history repeating itself, they said
But oh
How she proved them wrong
She was prosperous
And she helped those
Who put her down
She started a reformation
For this generation
