A Mother & Daughter

A Mother & Daughter

By Aolani Gallegos

Marcela,

She always gives love to me

And it is not limited

Like only about three hearts

She gives every bit of her life

And her love, yes, to me and the rest

Part of our families

Well, that’s how my mamasita

Is to me, I see her

There with me, only with me

Doing merengue until sweatiness

Pours over our bodies

Having the time, you see

Of our lives like crazy

So then my moma’s hair

Going down, down to her shoulders

The waves and the curls of it

With the color of the night

And her laying down to rest

Her tired mind from problems

This world has thrown a lot

But she can solve it, she knows

I believe in her though

She is not like others

That’s how we both feel

So anyways my mother knows

Her ways to calm herself

The face shining through my eyes

But still need less fat

I could help her with that

By exercising or working out

No,

Dancing is what she likes

Yeah,

Moving the body and

Sweating like after playing soccer

Until I can see

The beautifulness of my mother
