It was a gift from Nana. Swimming in his circular tank of water, the fish…
Away
Away
By Juan Cadena
I close my eyes and see me standing far away.
Away from school, cities, highways, and people.
A place where you can run, scream, laugh, and cry
A place where no one will find you.
At the bottom of the lake with a cinder block
Tied at your feet not putting up a fight
Sinking to the bottom of grief and sorrow
Hoping you’ll see tomorrow
Hoping, praying, and begging for an easy exit
But that’s the thing life is filled with beautiful thing
People choose not to see it or ignore
So swim faster than the cinder block can
That drags you down to sorrow and grief
You will see tommorow.
