Beautiful City

Beautiful City
By Rachel-Beth Acker

My city always taught me too see the beauty in everything

Admire that old church, the sun reflecting on the stain glass

Imagine what used to be from that broken abandoned house

Look out upon the barren field and imagine the smell of a house filled with the aroma of its bountiful crops being cooked into a wonderful meal

Ask yourself just what will be made of the cotton being picked and plucked from that valley below

Smile at those who seem to have forgotten

There is beauty in our city

You just have to look
