Benjamin O. Davis Jr.
The first African American general in the United States, Benjamin O. Davis Jr., set high standards for integration in the U.S. Air Force. Ever since Davis was a child, he had set his standards high to become a part of the Air Force. Davis set his goal high but got through the tough times until he was a part of the Air Force, but he didn’t stop there. He went on to receive many metals, fight for African American rights in the Army, and become the first African American to become a general in the United States. Davis was “…an inspiration to any army group, white or colored…” says The Young Men’s Christian Association, during Davis’ service in 1940.
