Coming Home

Coming Home
by Kaitlyn Russell

I came home
I came home because
I missed home
He gave me the can

I told him only one
But he handed them to me
over
over
and over
I left
When I got home

They gazed at me
Not taking their eyes off me
The kids
Making sure I didn’t get hurt

Them knowing
I was to get mad
They stalked me like a hawk
Then it happened
I see my family run

But everything was just a blur
Light
Glistening so bright
Closer
And closer
