Cousin

Cousin
by Anonymous 7th Grade Student

Everyday I wish to go away
to leave the rez
but not my family
I would get high with my cousins

drink with a few buddies
then decided not to go without my friends
soon I met a girl
she changed my piont of veiw
my life was turned around

she changed when we buried her dad six feet in the ground
one day we were all high but she stayed away
because there was a baby on the way
the day he came we were happy
forgetting her pain it came back
she changed once again
she got drunk then I began

to think its my time to leave
I went to the mall for apply for the Army
I got my scores and I was more than qualified to join
I had to rethink cause I didnt want to leave my little boy
went home home got drunk
with her and her uncles
I told her the news
yet she manages to turn it to “bad news”

yelling, screaming, and baby crying
we gave baby to aunt Jay
she told her uncles
and they all jumoed me
one against five wasnt that fair now I sighed
I was out for a few minutes
wakuing up on the tracks
hearing her yell but not make out what she said

wiht the whistle of the train
I knew my life was at sake
I laid there saying “god don’t make me go through pain
put my son in the right place have my family be happy
no matter what comes there way,I deserved to go where you put me.”
I look to the right of me

bright light I couldn’t see
BOOM….I’m Gone……….
