Dear Society

Dear Society
You are wise, like my grandmother’s dead voice
You are loud and quiet at the same time
You scream at me,
You shout telling me what to do
You are a bird with broken wings
You are summer days with cloudy skies
Your eyes are blue like the ocean
And your hair is blond like sand.
You want everything to sing in
Harmony and perfection
You want me to be the ideal woman or girl
But my dear friend you don’t understand
You don’t understand that
Your beauty is unspeakable
But you soul is as numb as mines is right now
You don’t understand that you are
NOT everything that I am but
Everything that I want to be
You don’t understand that you’re the reason
You’re the reason why I didn’t look in the mirror for so long
You don’t understand that you ruined the people that I love
And the voices inside me
You don’t understand that I’ve changed my personally
Like they were cloth on hangers, throwing shirt after shirt on the floor
Trying to find the perfect role to play
My dear you never understood what it feels like to be me,
or to breath me, or to act like me
you do not know my tears, my anger ,or my strength
my laughter or my joy and happiness
You never understood me dear society
