Dreams

Dreams

by Jelaine Hands

A place where I escape from sin

A place where it begin…

Gray skies are blue

Where skittles are food from the sky,

Where blacks are free

Where I’m not treated like a caged animal,

Where my colored brothers are not

shot by white cops.

Where the way I speak don’t get picked on

A place where kids are not abused and hurt,

Where love is as

big as the universe.

Where hunger doesn’t exist,

Where people are not in poverty

but are living a life full of riches.

A place where our fun times never end …but then again it’s just a DREAM.
