Enveloping Campground

The lilting sound of songbirds
whispering on the soft breeze of sunrise
The burst of warm pinks and oranges
warming the heart
As the dying embers
coax laughs and smiles
from those around us

The shivering of the aspen leaves
murmuring a lullaby
The sound of crickets
bringing hope of life
A small home for marmots
a lively playground for reckless children
The black fist of a giant
fit for doe sighting
The log cabin a memory
of a past, a history
Now resurrected under young observation
As excitement pulses through their veins
The sting of tall grass slapping their legs
