Facing Reality in your Town
By Omar
when you walk through a town you imagine dad’s playing with there son’s
moms watching in the kitchen cooking with the dress she ironed in the morning
nicely fixed hair like she took an hour on it just like all girls do .
the smell is freshly planted roses or cut grass
they have a nice cute dog.
well take all that stuff out of your head reality is when you walk through my town it’s like walking through a war zone
you see kids in uniform wearing their color
in some spots you smell the brown paper of swisher sweets and thick green cloud of marijuana
you see kids with no dad sometimes no mom only an auntie or uncle
you see under a kids shirt against his waist a chrome toy or in his pocket a switch blade
