Hush Little Baby

Don’t you dare tell me that I’m too young to understand
For I have swam through many seas
None of which were drastically bland
Bland is calm, warm, too happy for me
Don’t tell me that I’m not strong
For I have lifted up logs and built bridges to get to you
When my suffocating veins cry and the wood grasps at my skin, I am where I belong
I cry among few
But mother, please hold on to me for a bit longer
I still long to watch cartoons in the morning and eat dinosaur nuggets at noon
Please praise my wonderful heart, show my good deeds honor
Sing my tears to sleep with a single coon
For the seas I swim through are created from the salt in my eyes
And I’m not ready for a little girl’s demise
