my mom is so eager to please everyone

she is a ray of sunshine you can feel the warmth when you are in her presence

her smile is contagious, she is a goddess among all others

like all mothers she is always watching over her cubs

but… when she is alone the sunshine disappears and is replaced buy a gray cloud its as if gravity is weighing her down

she looks back on her life mistakes and begins to frown at the fact that all three of her children are living out the stereotype of a black man. they are fatherless.

i catch her crying when i look through the crack of her door

i sit beside her and remind her that she plays both roles in our life she is a mother and a father

i tell her everyone makes mistakes in life but we learn from them, there is no point in dwelling on the past

lastly i remind her that there is a lot of pressure in the life of a single mother but remember pressure makes diamonds.
