Marionette

Marionnette

By: Veronica Maddox

I’ve been used like a doll
A simple puppet on strings

For I wait for your call
For my own chance to perform

For years I’ve fought to escape
These chains
But in reality there are only
Threads that bind me to you

Encased in a wooden shell I’ll
Scream
I’ll cry until my voice grows hoarse

But nothing will show through this
Emotionless mask
That I have given myself

I cannot leave you Master
For then I’ll have no purpose

So for now I’ll wait patiently
For the puppet show to begin again…
