Mary

Mary
By Melissa Crepps

Mary
Sweet like sugar
Weathered by emotions
The apple hanging off the tree by a limb

Mary
Sitting by the bed waiting for him to come home
Like a puppy that’s been alone all day
He’s as gone as last week’s paper

Mary
Her soul and heart fragile like glass
The empty space beside her tells her
He is not coming home

Mary
Poor thing don’t cry
Looking at you from up above
He smiles at you with kind eyes

Mary
Be careful you might hurt yourself
I’m going home now
I miss you Mary
