Mexican Blood

By Fabian Gallegos
Pioneer Charter School

I am from Mexican flags hung in my room
I am from Xbox to Samsung
I am from a small house in a poor neighborhood
I am from grass and dandelions growing in perfect patterns
I am from celebrating Christmas and Easter
I am from the Son,the Father, and the Holy Spirit
I am from working hard and eating tacos
I am from being told,”Life ain’t easy.”
I am from being told,”No era penal”(it wasn’t a penalty,long story)
I am from believing Jesus is the Lord’s only son
I am from believing Jesus has resurrected from the dead and is sitting right hand of the Lord
I am from Durango, Mexico
I am from tamales and tacos
I am from playing canicas (marbles)
I am from sharping pencils with a blade
I am from pictures hung in hallways and living room
I am from where we’re proud to say,”Viva Mexico!
