Morning Rise in the Hood

Morning Rise in the Hood

By: Taney Stevenson

A

s the orange boiling sun falls,

The ghostly full moon rises

Not a sound but the hopelessness

Coyotes howling.

As I rise from my night’s rest

I take a glimpse at the morning’s mist.

Cats crying for their food

“Hold on, it’ll be there soon”.

As I get my shower warm and ready

I put on my clothes which are nice and pretty.

My house is full of happiness,

But my neighborhood is full of darkness.

I stay happy in and out of my house,

Cause I’m like a little mouse
