Mr. Smiley

Mr Smiley
by Alexandre Tahi

This man’s name is Mr. Smiley
He looks like his head is empty
yet mighty
Strong demeanor, always seems ready

Mr. Smiley stands tall with
a receding hairline with
mildly yellow teeth with
a smile that stays there for a while.

What is behind it we will never know.
He seems as if he has no fear.
He cheeses.
He smiles from ear to ear.
He grew up in my neighborhood.
He always was a nice man but misunderstood.

Mr. Smiley may have been put in a mental home
he is not like Kevin he can’t be home alone.

He may have been messed with in school
people may have used him like a tool.

He still lives with his mother and she is getting old.
I hope when she passes to glory
he’s not left in this world
a world so cold.

He’s a grown Autistic man
I’m pretty sure he’s shy.
Something tells me there’s more to him
than truly meets the eye.

Everywhere he goes he has to walk
The saddest part is that he can’t even talk.

I know people  laugh at him
like he’s  an act at the circus
But like God said, “everyone
was put on this earth for a purpose”
