My Side of Town

My Side of Town

By CG

Laughter.

All you hear on my side of town is laughter,

Coming from the kids playing at the park.

Crying.

All you hear on my side of town is crying,

Coming from the mothers struggling to feed and clothe their children.

Gunshots . . .

Sirens.

All you hear on my side of town is sirens,

Coming from the ambulances racing to the scene of the gunshots.

Sirens.

The last thing you heard. Before the silence.
