My Uncle

My Uncle

by: Kealahou Hakuole

The thick German blood that runs through his veins

with the hair that sprouts out flowing through his arms and face

The dumb jokes he says that will make you fire back

and the override of his smartness that will throw you off track

The small idiotic boy with a man on the outside

The image of a close to perfect uncle he never can hide

with my head falling back he dives with a pillow to the ground.

An uncle that I love not because of the money

but let’s start with his heart

and how he stops his car

or stores his quarters inside a rusty old jar.

my uncle the dummy

that is sort of crummy

but still my uncle
