New Life

New Life

By Jorge Reyes

Dear Little brother,

The memory of your birth follows me

Everywhere

Baby bottles shook

Like nervous

Hands

Butterflies spray me with happy juice

I see you

for the first time

Our family smells the delightfulness off of me

Around the whole hospital room

The sun smiles sternfully down at me

When I see you

Little

A cluster of smiles wrapped up in a wool blanket

The new life began for you

“Good luck little one,

this is a crazy world.”
