Poetry is . . .

Poetry is a story that has a meaning.

It’s a nursery rhyme for children.

It’s a short story for anybody.

It’s a song, for someone special.

Poetry to me you ask?

Well, poetry isn’t just a given task.

It’s a story that is filled with emotions.

It’s a song, a story, or a rap.

It’s not a reality trap,

It’s an escape from reality.

That’s what a poem is to me.

It freed many other poets.

It also freed me.

So, the question is,

what is poetry to you?
