Prevail

Prevail

By Zion Corley

Always knew about poverty

And the ones who always went hungry

-like the ones on every corner-

I was there as you struggled

but always just stood by

They still prevailed

Because no one else would

Dying under the capital’s hand

They wanted an uprising

They still prevailed

They wanted change

They need change

Give and it shall be given, right?

And for the ones that get hung up

on hangovers

This ain’t the Hunger Games

But a hunger game

Hunger is like a prison

That you keep going back to

No matter what you do

But you can still prevail
