Rainbow Bridge

Rainbow Bridge
By: Tyler Rough Surface

My eyes begin to water,
I am short of breath,
My stomach is tight,

I see a dog,
It is hurt,
There’s blood,
I see its ribs,
I see the scars of its past.

Why?
What did it do to deserve this?
Did it jump on you?
Did it lick you?
Did it nip at you because it is scared?
It is sad,
Tears begin to well up in its eyes,
It is fading in and out of consciousness,
It sees a light.

For some reason it is not scared anymore,
This light seems to be good,
There will be no more pain,
Starvation, beatings, and fights

It is Rainbow Bridge.
