Renew

by Heidi Ocampo

A trail of blood pouring down
her wrist. Pulse stops,
blades scattered all over the floor.
Ambulance wails as loud as a chimpanzee.
Parents crying and swearing at God.
THEN, DEAD SILENCE.
All of this could have been prevented,
if it would have all stopped.
The constant abuse, being called names and rejection.
It could have stopped,
it had to stop!
What if she had told her teachers?
What if she had told her family and friends?
Thats all she can say now “what if…”
Don’t be left with the words “what if…”
Be able to say today and forever “I can..”
