Roots

Roots

by Eva Roman

He was like the roots of our family tree,
and once the roots got pulled out
the tree just died.
the branches danced and smiled together
as the wind blew threw them.
The roots so strong,
kept them together, alive, and happy.

Then someone came along and pulled the roots out,
tore the whole tree apart.
The branches collapsed.
The wind blew stronger
but they weren’t happy, together, and alive anymore.
They spread further apart.
Without the roots they slowly died.
