Seasons of the Morning Calm

by: Kelly Brown

cozy neighborhoods,

surrounded by overgrown trees,

in a country with four distinctive seasons

the spicy smell of street food

offers the only warmth in

the long, cold winters

hot, humid summers, hotter than

the Hawaiian sun,

make you wish for bitter cold

once the leaves begin to change and fall,

slowly see your breath like smoke,

and know that the year has passed.
