She Cries Out
She Cries Out
By Imani Ortiz
She cries out “help” but
No one can hear her.
No one will listen, and no one will care.
Tears are running down her face, meeting her palms as they race.
Her eyes are red from crying all day, and her mind is bouncing all over the place.
She cries out because of mistakes she’s made, but also of the mistakes someone else made, too.
It doesn’t make sense why people want to hurt her, but she guesses they have no brain.
Girls at school calls her names.
Things like a “hoe” or a “thot,” it’s all to blame.
This girl that cries out is very, very pretty, just overwhelmed by the fact that they call her too skinny.
She cries out she wants to die, tears faded,
And now she will try.
