Soccer Sonnet

A imperfectly perfect ball lies awaiting in the grass
White hexagons and black pentagons stitched together
The ball comes to you with a swift pass
Lace up your cleats, tighten the leather.
Soccer itself is enlightening
When you are in the zone,
You get the feeling opposite stifling
To play well, your skills you must hone.
You can control what you can
But the game ends up having a life of it’s own
Faster a cheetah you are than
If you play it right, the game will not drone.
Soccer is a game of freedom and spirit
Embrace and welcome it, you will learn to cheer it.
