The Dark Side of Poetry

Poetry is having to do chores

Poetry is doing stuff when you’re sick

Poetry is going to school

And working and learning stuff all day.

Poetry is NOT hanging out with friends

Poetry is NOT getting a perfect twelve hours of sleep

Poetry is listening to people yell hump day

Every. Freakin’. Wednesday.

Poetry is doing homework

Every night and every day

Poetry is getting detention

Especially when you didn’t do anything wrong

Poetry is poetry

Not bad to everyone

But definitely to me.
