The Mountain

The Mountain

By: Addy Miller

There is a place not so far away

Where all stress and worries seem to fade away

The daisies swaying in the breeze

So dainty and quiet you will hear a white tailed bunny sneeze

The calm wind will swirl and spin

Warming your heart and cooling your skin

The green grass lightly touching your hand as you watch the sky

And briefly see a bald eagle flying by

The wisps of clouds going by in the wind so fast

That before you know it they’re already in the past

Nights so dark but crystal clear

You can see every detail of the sky far and near

Every star and planet in its specific place

And even the constellations lined up and bright like strands of white lace

There is also a dark side to this mountain that very few can see

It will pull you in never letting you go, never letting you free

The memories and images will haunt your mind

Making you wish you could just start over and press rewind

Wolves on top of a distant cliff howling faintly in the night

Sending chills down your spine as you stand in the pale moonlight

The winding oak trees with dark shadows in their midst

And something terrifying stalking you in the foggy mist

Some people find it terrible scary

They say only bad things the night will carry

I would say that it’s quite mysterious and amazing

Everything that happens here is very entertaining
