The Negro Who Fought Back

The Negro who Fought Back
By: Karnasha Brooks

The Negro who fought back
Struggling, fighting back
“Death to the Negro” they scream
All I see is white
Bloody hands of Murder White
I say to the Lord why why me I am sorry for all my sins

I think I do stand a chance, they cannot believe I am fighting back
I am only 14, committed a crime I might of done
Though now I remember, Yes indeed
I fell in love with a White Boy
Ow so beautiful,so kind,in love with a Negro now I see
Though now I pay a price for loving,ow please

Snap! There goes my neck,Though I still hear them screaming,
Death to the Negro! For loving?Ow please!
A young lad in front of me,nothing but watching
He will soon become a lyncher, Yes indeed

Was it because I am Black, Yes indeed
Or was it for fun? Yes indeed
I just wanted to love though that was never true
As I still lived on Earth, death came soon, love did too

Though I will still be remembered
That warrior in black
I will still be remembered
As the Negro who Fought Back
