The Story of Hammond

Johncarlo Perez. Poet Warrior.

The Story of Hammond

The roaches a hissing

The insects a crawling

I walk down Maywood AVE

To my house

Big and white it is

Lights bright

Downtown isn’t nice

So think twice

I pass senora Glorias house

Smells like sweet

Fresh Cut grass

She waves with

S M I L E

I wave back

In my neighborhood nothing ever goes on

Except for shootings

And bootings

Maybe stealing to

And lots o dealing

No healing

For people that are feeling

On that street

Where we one day

H O P E

To be successful and fix our wretched world

So our kids kids and so on can live happily

The people that stay one day hoping they come back

To visit them and congratulate you on your success
