Then and Now

Then and Now
by Jasalina Hak

Once, words flew.

“I hate this bond!”
“We don’t get along”
no reason
“Stop being bad!”
“I’m never bad
I get my work done
to get your attention”

but

silence.

Mom was never here
I never gave her a chance to
Words flew.

 cold

alone.

It’s comfortable talking to her now.

Told her my feelings

My mother is my best friend

We told stories

Especially about my dad

My father was around

Never did what he suppose to do

Worried about himself
Never thought about giving us kids, what we needed
Mother bought the kids wardrobe attire,
even when she was struggling

Then and Now.
