What do you think it’s like to be one of only seven African Americans to win the Medal Of Honor and the only one to be alive to receive it. Some people can’t even imagine what fifty years feel like but Vernon J baker waited fifty years after World War Two before he received his medal of honor. By then all the African Americans he had fought with were dead. However history doesn’t show all the African Americans who risked their lives fighting for the country they loved, they only show the many Americans who didn’t do much but had some effect. By receiving the Medal Of Honor it showed that many African Americans who fought actually had a big difference in the outcome of the war. If not for them and the many other races that we fought along with the war could have been very different.
