What About Me?

What About Me

By: Miahri Merrell

The spark in his eyes tore

me apart

He catered to her every need

and let me be

The tears always seemed to form

the biggest river

“Daddy can we do this?”

“I gotta help her first”

I always whispered my response

“What about me?”

After a while

I didn’t dare to call

He vanished from my sight

Only to appear in hers

but what about me?

I broke into a million pieces

wondering if I’ll ever be the same

He dragged me into this darkness

He stabbed me over and over again

WHY!!

I guess he didn’t care that I was

broken

Never to be put together again

I ask every day

“Does he care?”

Because he walks past my

broken soul

I think I’ll just let it go

But every time I try

I think

What About Me?

Some may say “well that is his wife and your stepmother”

Well I say I have ONE mother and still

W h a t  A b o u t  M e?
