Fallen but Not Forgotten

Fallen but Not Forgotten
by Mara Galeai

This man was so smart, so kind
Never leaving one of his four children behind
Words flowing out his mouth, he was so wise
He said nothing anyone would despise

With his daughters on his shoulders, his smile is so soft
As they giggled about being aloft
His actions so brave, crossing the seas
Sometimes his family not wanting him to leave

Across in another continent, doing his job
His family writing him letters saying how they thought of him a lot
His wife and children waiting patiently for him to return
Not knowing the tragedy that had occurred

This loving man who was loved by so many
Would not return to his kids playing with pennies
The news was delivered, delivered it was indeed
That this husband to a wife, was not coming home at this time of need

Remembering him now,
as the hero he was
Appreciating all he has done for us
