Poetry is my Escape

Poetry is a writing I struggle to understand

Poetry is the new kid at school who says hello and shakes my hand

Poetry is the expression of passion and fear,

the expression of my hatred and pain

Poetry is an escape from the reality I hate,

the reality I do not want to be in

Poetry is the pillow I punch when I can’t handle my emotions

Poetry is something I don’t get,

but at the same time

I understand with all my heart,

with all my emotion

Poetry is the fire exit I run through when I can’t handle the scorching flames of anger

Poetry is my exit sign, Poetry is my escape
