The Amazing Abigail Adams

Abigail Adams, queen of all madams
Defended education, rose above her station
Talked about women’s rights, the Nineteenth Amendment in her sights.

During the smallpox, which covered several blocks
She led the family through it, kept cool like an icebox.
Even though she was sick, and it wasn’t a picnic
To John Adams she wrote, the man in the coat.

Abigail Adams, queen of all madams
Defended education, rose above her station
Talked about women’s rights
the Nineteenth Amendment in her sights.

Across the nation, a lot of people didn’t have education
Some girls and boys didn’t even have toys.
Abigail saw this, knew it wasn’t bliss
She said “That is cruel, give them a school. Girls and boys are not so different. Give them all education, those throughout our nation

Abigail Adams, queen of all madams
Defended education, rose above her station
Talked about women’s rights
the Nineteenth Amendment in her sights.

Now Adams was a feminist, didn’t like the men, those ademonists
She wrote to John, “Remember the ladies, give them rights, or we’ll go crazy, and start some fights.”
Women bonded and responded, they spoke to the folk.
But it wasn’t until the 1920s, that rights were in the possession of all Jennys.

Abigail Adams, queen of all madams

Defended education, rose above her station

Talked about women’s rights
the Nineteenth Amendment in her sights.
